A native of Washington State, Pamela Searcy grew up in Wapato where her family owned orchards on the Yakima Indian Reservation. Drawing and painting were her favorite pastimes as a child and she continued her interest in art at Seattle University, studying sculpture under the direction of Marvin Harrard and drawing and painting with Val Lago and Mr. Damascus, who is remembered for his great energy and passion for art and for inspiring his students to share his vision. After completing under graduate and graduate degrees from Seattle University, Pamela taught elementary school and then art at Inglemoor High School. With the demands of three small children she was busy at home for several years, keeping up with artistic interests as time allowed and taking additional graduate courses in art at the University of Washington. Now that all the children have completed their university degrees, a new freedom allows the artist the luxury to arrange her interests around a life long love of artistic expression.
