Libby Michailoff
Libby began her painting career in the first grade at
Kingsbury
Elementary, when she won a ribbon for her finger painting of a house.
Libby says, "I don't know what happened to that painting, but at the time
it was my career of choice." Now, years later, Libby loves painting as
much or more than she did when she was seven.
Crabbing on Camano
Watercolor by Libby Michailoff
Libby
primarily works in watercolor. She says, "I absolutely am in love with the
way the paint and water mingle on the paper. I find it often follows my
thoughts and feelings and when I have enough patience to leave it alone to
do its thing, it often dries into such lovely color that I am mesmerized."
Geraniums

"When
I paint, I remember the scent of the ocean or the feeling of sun on my
skin and want the painting to convey that feeling. It's the elusive three
dimensional I am always searching for with my paint."
Last year, Libby began creating archival ink prints of many of her
paintings and then started slicing them to create what she calls "Basketweaves."
No two basketweaves are alike.
