Named Artist of the Year for Snohomish County in 1999, Karla Matzke is best known for her singular work in soft pastels using a stunning hard-edged realism. She translates her visions onto paper with extraordinary finesse, bringing a new definition to her medium.

Karla is best known for her color field works in soft pastels and her hard-edged realism. Karla received her Master's of Fine Arts (MFA) in 1983 from the University of New York at Albany. In Passing of an American Era, she presents paintings in her barn series that marks a romantic era in American history.
