Kathy Hastings

Water related images have intrigued Kathy since her student days at the Art Center College of Design in California. In her work she combines her interest in scuba diving, kayaking, painting, computer art, and digital photography.

On calm days you may find her kayaking around Fisherman’s Terminal in Seattle photographing boat hulls and water reflections.

Her latest work is a combination of photography and encaustic. After printing the the image on watercolor paper, she adheres it to a wood panel and adds layers of beeswax, oil paint, oil pastel and metallic pigment for translucency, depth, and texture.
