A Northwester since age five, art was always Karan's favorite subject in school. After a lengthy career (30 years) in telephony and two sons, she returned to art. She studied classical drawing and oil painting with the late Patricia Raab who was a student of Ron Lucas and Russian impressionism, as well as Irina Kirienko Milton. Karan then studied watercolor with Michele Cooper and Helen Lueken.
Along with her art, Bush is an avid gardener and many of her flowers find their way into her paintings along with the wildlife that visit.
