Rocky's work has appeared in numerous publications, including National Wildlife Magazine, Ranger Rick, Safari, Defenders, and Science. He has illustrated books for The Wildlife Management Institute, The Wildlife Society, Harvard University Press, and others, and have been featured in the Top 100 of The National Park Service's Arts for the Parks exhibit.
Rocky's
degree in zoology from the University of Washington has helped in his
accurate renderings of wildlife in drawings and paintings, and has
fostered better appreciation and understanding of the animals from all
over the world that he has captured on canvas.
Rocky primarily paints in acrylic, but he occasionally will mix media,
including acrylic,
oil
pastel, graphite, and/or watercolor pencils. His drawings are either in
pencil or pen and ink.
Rocky also creates graphite portraits from photographs - call Doris for details.
